EXPLANATION:
Reset the Edimax Print Server Follow this process to reset the Edimax Print Server to its factory default settings. This will eliminate any incorrect configurat
ion settings and ensure that they are not the cause of any setup problems. This is an important part of the setup procedure, please follow it closely: 1. Power off the Edimax Print Server for 10 seconds. 2. Remove the network and USB cables (if connected) so that only the aerial and power cable are connected. 3. Power on the print server and wait 60 seconds for it to initialise (boot). Ignore any lights that show as flashing or solid as they are irrelevant at this stage of the configuration. 4. Using a pen, stylus or any other thin-pointed object, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds as shown in the photos below: *The adapter will now reset to its factory configuration. 5. Wait 60 seconds for the print server to initialise (boot). When finished only the WLAN light should be flashing. When this happens move to the next stage of the setup. 6. If the printer server displays any light configuration other than a flashing WLAN then: a. Power off the print server for 10 seconds. b. Power on the print server and wait 60 seconds for it to initialise (boot). c. Check to ensure only the WLAN light is flashing. If not, start this procedure again until the desired result is achieved.
Install the software 1. Insert the Epson CD into your CD/DVD drive and wait for the screen below to appear. Select the Easy Install option to begin: 2. The next screen lists the software that will be installed. It is important to place a cross in the corresponding networ
k option. In most cases this will be "Set up this printer for the first time." Click Install to continue: 3. Read the license agreement and click on Agree to continue: 4. The installation will now begin. Epson Scan, the printer driver and supporting software will be installed. A progress bar will be displayed throughout the majority of the process. The screenshots below show examples of this stage of the installation: 5. When prompted by the screen below, connect the USB cable to the printer and computer. Then power on the product: 6. If the product is recognised the following confirmation screen will be displayed: 7. Once the installation is complete, the finalisation screen is displayed. This confirms that the listed software components have been installed and are ready to use: Install the Print Server 12. The print server installation process will now begin. First, connect the USB cable to both the printer and print server. Then click Next: 13. Connect the Ethernet cable to the print server and network access point (usually a router). Click Next to continue: 14. The screen below shows a progress bar for the print server software installation: 15. The screens below may appear as a firewall warning. If so, it is important that you select the Unblock option in each case. a. If the firewall warning does NOT appear, then you must set up an exception rule to ensure that the relevant programs are not blocked. See this article for instructions on setting Windows Firewall exceptions, or the "Computer Setting Problem" section of this article for help with antivirus software firewall exceptions. b. Consult your software documentation for detailed instructions on how to manage your firewall settings.
Note: Please note that the screens may vary depending on your version of Windows and/or third-party software you are running. There is no built-in firewall in Windows 2000.
16. The next screen will identify the print server. If it is not identified click on the Refresh button. Click Next to continue: 17. You are now presented with two options by which to configure the print server. Select Easy installation (Recomm
ended) then click Next to continue: 18. The software will now search for available wireless networks. If presented with multiple choices select the network you wish to connect to and then click Next to continue: 19. If the wireless network is configured to use a particular security setting the screen below will allow you to select the network security type and enter the password. Click Next to continue after entering the relevant details:
20. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the print server and network access point, then click Next to continue: 21. The print server will now attempt to connect wirelessly to the network. Once this is successful, you should see a confirmation screen similar to the one below. Click Next to continue:
22. The print server software installation will now complete. Additional software will be installed, but this will not affect the print server functionality: 23. Once the full installation is complete, the screen below will be displayed. Click Exit to finish: 24. Once the print server has been successfully installed, you can check that it is connected wirelessly via MFP Manager. Open MFP Manager by double-clicking on the icon shown below, in the Windows System Tray: 25. MFP Manager should display the name of the print server above a sub-entry with the name of the printer and a red tick.
