With the recent release of SP3 by Microsoft, we have come to realise that it has been causing more problems than good.
In many cases we have found Windows to completely fail during boot up after installing SP3. In other cases we have found problems installing applications after updating to SP3. Two that come to mind are Photoshop 2 & CS. A simple Google search will find many such similar failures.
Until such time as these problems have been addressed and it is more stable, we recommend you stay away from SP3.
If SP3 comes up during Windows update, reject the update of SP3 for now.
We have been installing the latest SP3 and later patches for a few months now with good results. It would appear that early problems have now been resolved.
Having said that, make a restore point before you install SP3.
